Pitigliano is a town in the province of Grosseto, located about 80 kilometres south-east of the city of Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy. It is one of I Borghi più belli d’Italia (“The most beautiful villages of Italy”)

The quaint old town is known as the little Jerusalem for the historical presence of a Jewish community that has always been well integrated into the social context and that has its own synagogue.

The town’s Etruscan walls and the Porta Sovana, originally built by the ruling Aldobrandeschi family in medieval times, can be found in the northwestern part of Pitigliano. The southern part of the town
features a late-medieval wall section, where the pillars of the imposing Medicean aqueduct stand. The historic center is surrounded by fortress bastions and other fortified structures built by the Orsini family, who took over after the Aldobrandeschi had no male heirs.
